Just recently installed new thermostat on my 1975 SA-200; if I am not mistaken I believe it was a 180 degree thermostat (my old mind could be wrong but I think thats what it was). Yesterday I installed a temperature gauge; used the location on the head - large allen head plug; place temperature gauge on left front panel. Everything seems to work correctly, the temperature stays right at 190 degrees. My concern is what is the correct thermostat for the welder, I have looked thru all my parts books, checked Inet; the welding sites that sell thermostats only show a price and no degree setting. If my thermostat is 180 degree and the gauge is steady at 190 degrees, does that sound reasonable? Thanks for any info on this.
Reply:I have an early 70's SA200 with a temp. gauge installed in the same place as you describe. Have no idea what thermostat is in it (the original as far as I know) but the gauge reads the same steady 190 degrees as yours.
