SA-200 Governor Gasket replacement ?

Not by the book. The book shows one punch mark on the backside of the cam gear, and two punch marks on the governor gear. My cam gear has two punch marks on the front side of the cam gear, nothing on the backside. Seems as I've seen this before, but can't remember which machine. Has anyone else seen this? Reply:The punch marks are for lining up the mag should you have one. The governor doesn't care where you stick it in if there is no mag. If there is a mag then the slot on the governor has to line up with the mag.So I seat the mag, before I seat the governor in, The mag should be just about to fire #4 cylinder when the dots are lined up.Last edited by Cruizer; 08-17-2010 at 01:40 PM.

Reply:Yeah they don't put a lot of effort in installing the punch mark do they? Maybe they need a bigger hammer?Bill told me to roll the engine over until the “DC” mark on the flywheel is at the pointer in the hole in the generator housing behind the air cleaner. Look in the magneto hole, at about 11-0'clock or even 11:30 the punch mark on the cam will be there! I wore the finger prints off my pointer finger cleaning the grim off the cam gear, took a magnifying glass, and there it was!
