225 s???

Are the old 225 s arc welders any good? I don't no the yr but he did say it was old. He says it works and only wants $60 for it.
Reply:Just about everyone that I know that welds has one of these old machines, they seem to run forever.I bought one years ago, they were only $100.00 new back then.Guess I've never seen one go bad.John
Reply:Try it out if you can.  If it welds to your satisfaction, I wouldnt hesitate in buying it.  The one and only problem I have come across with these machines is a mud dawber wasp getting inside and building a nest in the fan area blocking the blades causing it not to run which in turn usually burns the fan motor if gone unnoticed for a period of time.  There is one in my brother's garage which was purchased by my dad some 40+ yrs ago.  It has the metal amp selector knob.  It is the first machine I learned to weld on.  It still works good and lays down some "mean" beads.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:usually when they come in for repair it just the amp control switch wore out. they last forever usually.
