Hi all,I know that EWTh-1 contains approximately 1% thoria and EWTh-2 contains approximately 2% thoria. What I don't know is the difference between the two when it comes to applications and characteristics. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me?Thanks
Reply:EWTh-1 erodes faster on arc starts for me. The industry standard for DC welding is EWTh-2 and works really well. Neither would I use for AC. The current standard is E3 and 2% Lanthanated. Actually2% Lanthanated is a good second choice to EWTh-2 IMO.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:I think the red is pretty sturdy tho. I to like 1/8. But I was using 2% zerconiated ( brown) on ac at about 200 amps maybe 210 and the tip looked like it was vibrating like a sob and it was 1/8. Didn't really have that with the redLast edited by motolife313; 12-01-2014 at 02:22 PM. |
