Reply:You can use it for cutting circles, straight lines, following patterns, etc and the nice thing it keeps your tip off the metal so you can see the lines and a better cut.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:The guide goes on your cup , a set screw keeps it there. The other set screw locks it from turning. The wheels can be adjusted to give you the right tip to metal hight.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:With a plasma torch with shielded consumables....you can drag the torch directly on the plate...or along the edge of a template or guide. Shielded consumables eliminate nozzle double arc damage as well as the sticking(to the plate) that is common with drag cutting at over 40 amps. Hypertherm invented the shield technology in the 1980's....and it is standard on all Hypertherm systems over 30 amps.....and available on other major brand plasma torches. I prefer dragging with a shielded torch over the use of a wire type standoff...or the roller wheels.Jim Colt

Reply:There was a kid at the tech school last year that was making a big steel daisy as a lawn ornament for the landcaping classes. I watched him hand cut and then spend most of the class grinding down the rough edges. When I saw him get ready to start on the 2nd petal, I asked him if he'd take a suggestion and let me show him something. He said the the size didn't have to be exact when asked, so I simply clamped the 1st one in place on his piece of stock and quickly zipped out the 2nd one tracing the edge of the 1/4" original with the tip of the Hypertherm PM 1250. Kid stood there in awe of how quick and nice the 2nd one looked. He asked if you could do the same thing with straight cuts and I said yes. Grabbed a chunk of 12" long scrap angle and proceeded to cut some nice 1/2" wide straight strips from a 3/8" coupon. The next week when I see him again, he thanks me for showing him this, as he spent the rest of the week cutting up sheets using the template method and making nice straight cuts for another of his projects using a straightedge and saving himself a ton of tedious grinding..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I have a set full that I bought with my first plasma cutter. I've used it a few of times... not as much as I thought I would. I quickly upgraded to drag consumables on my torch. Most times the drag setup is way faster. It does work well with an unshielded torch and you can see the cut, which can help keep your speed right, especially on thick plate. I do find it harder to keep it tight with the straight edge compared to the drag setup... because your running two wheels. The wheeled circle cutter is handy for the quick hole. The set I have is the Thermal Dynamics Deluxe Cutting Guide Kit 7-8910. Attached Images

Reply:GambleIf you are using a Hobart Ci they don't have a drag tip or shielded setup for that so a stand off or a guide would be a great help for cutting straight lines.
