First, let me be clear. I'm not a dealer, I'm not getting anything for this. I'm just a welder and a big fan of WeldTec products and had been looking for a good source for them. You're LWS can get them probably, but when it comes to having very particular TIG parts requests, service at your LWS, can be pretty poor, and min orders for small parts pretty high.So... I contacted TecTorch directly, and they pointed me to "Weld Products" They drop ship for Weld Products. I ordered $9.00 worth of small TIG parts, and paid no shipping! It drop shipped right from TecTorch, and since I live in So-Cal, the UPS was basically overnight! The service I got from Weld Products was great. It was sort of a flashback to good old fashioned customer service. I called, they answered right away, and I got fast friendly personal service over the phone. No hassle, and not wasted gas or time.Weld Tec/ Tec Torches are USA made and top quality. You can contact Weld Products at 760-480-2444.Proud to support Reliable Sheet Metal Works, in Fullerton, CA.Full service sheet metal fabrication serving Orange County since 1926.http://www.reliablesheetmetal.com
Reply:Good information.I'm a big fan of WeldTec products.Got their Speedway Torches on two of my tig welders.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:first let me be clear.  i am glad you got good service.  it helps that weld pro and tec torch are in the same building.   that is probably due to the fact that weld pro is or operates a "maquiladora" south of the nearby border with mexico.also,  a company that states their product is made by american workers, has said nothing.if a company says that their product is made in the usa;  they have said something quite different and have to comply with federal requirements as to amount or percentage of content mfg'd, origin of resources, here is the link.http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bu...e-usa-standardsince you work for, or represent reliable sheet metal,  i know, that you know, what a maquiladora  is.   i worked in anaheim for universal and saw first hand the companies that left so cal to do their business just below la linea.throwing that usa affiliation around is real popular these days since most americans are too lazy to figure out if it has any validity at all.weld pro?  say hello to juanita in AP lol
Reply:i need to add an additional thought.the ability to honestly label your product with:  made in the usa, or to use it in your product literature gives you a certain cache with a class of american shoppers.  there are lists of companies whose products meet the criteria set by the FTC for the made in america label and that list is shopped from by a large group of american consumers.   it definitely, in light of todays mfg globalization, provides a company with a more saleable product. conversely you would have to ask yourself why a company would use anything other than that label, if it was in fact true, that their product is: made in america. can you think of any?

Reply:obviously the first thing that got my attention was the fact that the company is in san diego.the second thing, is th weird wording of made by american workers?then, i thought it was odd that they, jet tec used a san marcos mail drop when they are actually located on 500 s andreasen in escondido.then i checked the corporate makeup and discovered that tec torch co is located at 500 s andreasen also.  tec torch co only has 4 employees;  all corporate officers i believe and the pres and vice pres are both named rehrig.  brother sister/ husband wife.  it is a shell.then i checked the building but it appeared to be vacant when the satellite flyover took place;  no cars in the lot.next i googled:   Weld Products at 760-480-2444  now, i did get some info that said weld products employs about fifty.  who knows where.  the business address is 500 s andreasen, escondido ca.     they don't want you to make the connection between the two company's, they have gone to some lengths to keep them isolated.     there is more if you want to look.  but first just google the area i darkened.discovered something else also,  83 percent of the worlds tungsten comes from china;  sylvania is a major buyer and also a major producer of the tungsten you weld with every day;  it is manufactured in towanda pa.    that is all well and good.  osram sylvania sold the company to planee group, an austrian co, based in ruett (sp) in 2008;   i read some of the Q3 conference call.  the company is building a large factory in shanghai,  they did not go into specifics about the nature of business there but i am willing to bet the will be mfg tungsten electrodes among other things.i'd be worried if i was working in the  towanda, pa., plant.  it's too bad, but there is no stopping what is taking place.
Reply:that shanghai plant is due to open in 2012;  at one point hershey's chocolate tried to bail from pa, but the governor stepped in not sure how they stopped it but they did.  i do know that some of hershey's product is being mfg'd there now.  but i don't know how much.  that factory in shanghai would have me worried but most of the employees probably don't even know what's going on.check this link.http://www.manta.com/c/mmb5r03/tec-torch-co
Reply:weld prolink:http://www.manta.com/c/mt4ddyn/weldpro-incnone of this proves that they are making their stuff south of the border but it does happen a lot.  we'll let the FTC figure it out.Last edited by fdcmiami; 12-01-2011 at 04:40 PM.
Reply:Lots of babbling and google searches, but sounds like someone doesn't have a clue WTF they're talking about.WTH does Sylvania having a presence in China have to do with Weld-Tec?Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:I don't have a clue? You're the dang fool coming on here throwing a bunch of negative crap out about a company that you obviously know NOTHING about. The guy who started Weld-Tec was originally with Weldcraft.  One of the "brightest" tig torch developers out there.  I've been using their products for nearly 4 years.  Their Speedway torches are some of the best to be found anywhere.  Their torch covers are some of the best I've used.  They make a 20 series HD torch that will take a 5/32" tungsten, and are rated at 300+ amps.  The Speedway 320 is a 20 size torch that's rated at 300+ A.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
