Reply:Hello 1AgKid, the other day there was a welding system available on craigslist in my area: it was a Lincoln DC600 with an LN7 feeder, leads, whips etc. they were asking $250 dollars for it (if I were to buy it myself it would be for the feeder and not the power source). Consider that a 3 phase machine such as the one pictured cannot be run on most residential power and a phase converter isn't a very viable option for welding machines, although I have seen some folks power theirs that way. You would still need a feeder (they're generally the expensive part of one of those systems because they can be used with many other power sources in most cases), you would also still need leads (ground clamp, cable, connectors etc.) and then a phase converter of some sort of fairly good size due to welding power sources draw rates/needs. In short, you would be better served by finding a machine that works on single phase residential power and is complete unless you have 3 phase available. Even if you do have 3 phase there are lots of deals out there that are likely more complete and economically feasible when compared to this one. Good luck and best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:If that's what I think it is it was a very good machine in its day. Its a cv power supply so you would need a feeder to go with it. One really nice thing about that power supply is that it has adjustable slope on the inside of the machine, so you can move the taps on the coils and change the ratio of volts to amps. A tap setting of 2 or 4 was good for aluminum wire or dual shield. If you maxed the slope setting you could run an outside corner on 1/8 steel with the machine and wire feed wide open provided you could see well enough and move fast.
Reply:I think Im just gonna get a hobart stickmate, will be cheaper than buying all this other stuff to go with the miller 3 phase plus I dont have 3phase power.Mullets&Pullets
Reply:Stickmates are nice basic machines, but I wouldn't buy one new. Chances are you can find a nice used similar machine for a lot less money. If you listed your location in your profile so we'd all know where you lived, someone might be able to post up a CL suggestion as to what to look at. I regularly see AC only buzz boxes going for between $50-150 and the AC/DC ones for about $100-150 more. On a few occasions I'll even see the bigger industrial machines like Idealarcs and Dialarcs going for less money than the box store ones, but you have to know what you are looking at..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Don't pass up the older century brand welders, I've seen them sell by me on cl for $250.00 for the 250 amp ac/DC version. My brother in law has one at his farm and it welds beautifully.

Reply:I usually use Searchtempest to check CL listings over a larger area. I usually use the search term "welder" and sort the list manually to see if I can locate anything interesting. Reply:I use Searchtempest for CL. Of the 8 welders I've bought, maybe 4 of them would have come up on local CL. Reply:Its 3 phase. You can't run it. There isn't any way besides a heavy duty rotary converter. Its not worth all the hassle. It's a CV power supply without the feeder..Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Reply:Old junk Miller, that DC-600 is worth 12000.00 with feeder,if you can use it!Last edited by Pavinsteelman; 03-01-2016 at 06:20 AM.
