I have a SP 100 I bought new in '98?. I am have a problem with the wire feeding out. everything seems to be tight the wheels turn and aren't worn but it won't feed through the gun. If I grab the wire I can pull it through the gun but it won't feed. Any ideas?
Reply:Most likely needs a new liner. Has anything been dropped on the lead? It may be clogged up with flux. Have you ever replaced the liner?Millermatic 251Spectrum 300 PlasmaEverlast PowerTig 250EXEverlast PowerCool W300Harris / Victor OACraftsman 13 Speed Drill PressProTools Air/Hydraulic Bender48" BrakeCompressor, Notchers, Grinders, etc.
Reply:Go ahead and pull the liner out. There is a small set screw on the welder end power pin.I will guess that there is a bend about 4 inches from that end and may more of them about every foot the rest of the way. This is cause by wrapping the gun tight around the welder.
Reply:Thanks- I will check that out. I was hoping I didn't have to replace the whole gun/ hose assy. I figured that would be expensive. I have never replaced the liner and to be honest have never had to do anything but plug it in and weld.
Reply:Liners are fairly cheap. I think this one fits your lead.http://cgi.ebay.com/Lincoln-Welding-...d=200342626371Millermatic 251Spectrum 300 PlasmaEverlast PowerTig 250EXEverlast PowerCool W300Harris / Victor OACraftsman 13 Speed Drill PressProTools Air/Hydraulic Bender48" BrakeCompressor, Notchers, Grinders, etc.
Reply:WOW That was easier than I thought!!! I took the liner out and sure enough there was a very small kink 4 inches down. I pulled the wire out and was able to straighten it out. Fed the wire in by hand smoothly with no problems. Fired it up and it worked GREAT!! Thanks for the help!!
Reply:You might want to order another liner to have on hand just in case. More then likely that liner will kink again in the same place with just the slightest amount of pressure.Millermatic 251Spectrum 300 PlasmaEverlast PowerTig 250EXEverlast PowerCool W300Harris / Victor OACraftsman 13 Speed Drill PressProTools Air/Hydraulic Bender48" BrakeCompressor, Notchers, Grinders, etc.
Reply:I was thinking that too. Will do. Thanks again |
