I bought this from ebay  http://www.ebay.com/itm/141536154598...%3AMEBIDX%3AITIs there anyone that has advice on how to go about cleaning and getting it setup proper for a tig cooler?
Reply:Kind of hard to see which pump is on that unit, but if it is a Procon, EDCO Distributing in Sacramento, CA refurbs the Series 1s for about $50 to "as-new" specs and appearances, plus about $20 shipping back to you.  If it's some other kind of pump, there are companies that rebuild almost any of the pumps, but either way, you will need to check on the model and specs to see if it is set up well for a TIG cooler (pressure settings, etc.).  You can send them the specs for the pressure you want while the pump is being rebuilt.  You might also think about a external filter, if it does not have one in the system you bought.  Good luck!
Reply:Thanks! When I get it I will verify all the info. Greatfull for the lead that it can be setup for tig cooler psi. For 100$ shipped to ALASKA it's a steal. Most places want a limb in exchange for shipping.
Reply:It looks like a standard Procon carbonator vane-type pump to me. I wouldn't bother doing anything to it until you try it out and see if it pumps.  I can't tell if it is brass or stainless from the photo.  Hopefully it has the adjuster under the acorn nut to set the pressure to about 50 psi.  There should be a fine mesh strainer under the other acorn nut.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma

Reply:[QUOTE=Mr. Moose;5251181] Originally Posted by shaynoak; It's a McCann pumpMcCann carbonators often use a Procon pump.  The difference is in the parts configuration of the Procon pump selected for the particular use.  The McCann literature says that the pump in the carbonator is set for 250 PSI.  In a Miller Coolmate TIG cooler, the pump is set between 55-60 PSI.  The Procon Series 1 pump can be adjusted somewhat, but the range of adjustability may not get you from 250PSI down to 55PSI.  That was why I mentioned that you'd want to send in the specs if you were to get it refurbed, because it's normally a couple inexpensive parts difference in the pressure control side.  You may not want or need 250PSI running through your torch.  I'd also suggest the external filter addition, although a Procon Series 1 does have an internal filter, you will see that the Coolmate 3 has an external visible filter that Miller apparently thinks was useful to keep debris out of the small lines feeding the TIG torch.  You can find the external TIG filters for about $35 on E-Bay.
Reply:Here is how I reconfigured mine for a tig cooler picture shows a pressure gauge inline with torch hooked up.  I could adjust the pressure to 50 PSI flowing through the torch the removed the gauge.  If you have a lathe take the motor apart and drill out the end of the shaft and weld a stud in the and mount a fan blade on it.  This way you are moving air through the cooler when pumping. The copper line drinks from the bottom of the tank return goes to the cooler assembly. Reply:Not meaning to highjack this thread.......but on a procon pump that goes 250 psi how do you adjust the pressure?  Is there anything wrong with running at 250 psi?
