I don't know if this type of thread already exists or if could be posted as a sticky. So here goes. What about a thread that posts the machine, location, asking price and what was the final price? That type of information might be useful when looking for a used welder? What do you think?Nick
Reply:Well Nick,I know around were I live the prices for used machines is almost as high as new ones. And the LWS prices change every few weeks or so.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's

Reply:Good deals come and go quickly.  It is a very volatile and localized market.  Figure out a couple machines that you would be happy to have, and ask us about the going price.  If you just want to buy and sell at a profit, then do your own homework."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:I found a 5 year old Millermatic 252 for 1200 here in Sask.  I didn't think that was too bad of a price.Miller Multimatic 215
Reply:I just bought a like new Millermatic 180 for $700 with the cheap miller cart.  The only visible sign of use was a dirty tip and missing nozzle.Don't know if it was a great deal but it was cheaper than new from Michigan AirGas.  Mfg. Date of 2010.Gorilla tapeZip tiesJB weld
Reply:the bigger, older and heavier it is the better deal you will get... then if its not red or blue the price gets even better..   One reason so many of us love the Miller 330ABP's Old Dialarcs and Idealarc round tops etc...  No better deal as long as you have enough amps to power them and don't need to be portableTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:OK, I'll play.Older but nice:Dialarc 250 w/ leads - $300.Syncrowave 250 - $850.Like new:Thermal Arc Dragster 85 - $50.Clarke 130EN w/ 5 lb CO2 - $85.Have seen both an XTM304 and a Maxstar 150STH in nice condition go for about $800. each.  Lincoln SP-200 MIG w/ cylinder for $350.  In most cases these were the (quite reasonable) asking/selling prices."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Those are both good prices on the 150 STH and 304 as long it wasn't machine only. I actually found a 304 for a better price but passed after I became suspicious of the origin (could fry an egg on it).
Reply:So is this a good deal? Just saw it on CL today. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/tls/3300603327.htmlWTF is this guy smoking? Can get a nice Syncrowave for that kind of money. Lincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175

Couldn't touch one for under $1500 most of the time. Seen them as you have for under a grand more than a few times.I used to sell fully reconditioned A/BP's with a warranty for around $1100 on average. Could see $1500 every once in awhile. You can't barely give them away now. I ended up scrapping several simply because I could get more for the copper in them than fixing them up & putting them on the net.Yeah, just gotta keep an eye out for the deals now. They come & go.IMHO of course
Reply:The XMT304 I mentioned came out of a nuke plant originally.  The fellow who bought from the second owner it traded a $250. shotgun plus cash.  I think he actually got it for around $700. cash equivalent.  He did one job with it and flipped it for a big profit.  (I sold the same guy a TA 85 Dragster for $160. that I bought for $50. )"USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:I recently paid 500 for a 330, its and air products version but very clean. came with the pedal, tig torch, water hookups, 50ft of lead, new stinger, decent ground clamp, hd cart, couple little extra accessories. i thought it was a pretty good deal. most 330s in my area are up for 1000-1500.Miller ab/p 330Hobart champ 16Miller 140Lincoln Power Mig 255Lincoln SA-250
Reply:How about a Lincwelder AC180C for $50. ?  Yeah, they only sold for $170. new, but that was from 1948 to 1952.  I'm thinking of going for one that's for sale nearby.  How fast/how many times do you have to turn the crank handle before you can weld?   Attached Images"USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:The leads look OK in the pic, but probably not very long or big.  Still, I could sell off the leads if it's just going to be a decoration.  The switch on the right is supposed to control the arc dig, I think.  $125. was the asking price (right ...) and I just said I might be interested at a lesser price.  $50. was the answer back. Reply:I just recently bought a Miller 211, a semi beat up miller cart, a lightly used spool gun and a 150 cu ft tank half full of argon. It also includes a few consumables and half a spool of flux core wire and a few other small things for $1000.The 211 was built in Jan 2011 according to the serial. The guy used it for business but had 4 other welders and used it for portable jobs so it was a bit scuffed up, but after i cleaned it and bought some new tips, it dam near looks brand new.
