Hello,I am considering getting a new welding helmet. http://www.amazon.com/Miller-255519-...02173e86db294a This is it, some of the reviews sound retarded that I have read. "Ermahgawd, this ain't no auto-darkening helmet!" Anyone have any experience with this helmet or maybe recommend something similar? The searches turned up little mention of this helmet. I really like the idea of flipping up just a visor as walking around with an entire welding helmet up can be a bit clumsy at best, I've had helmets slip off my head or simply hit them on something overhead. A flipped up welding helmet doesn't provide any protection for the face when doing some grinding, I wear glasses but I'd still like more protection. I have an auto-darkening helmet, grinding with auto-darkening sucks even with the auto-darkening disabled, blah blah. I am considering the notion of trying to replace the fixed lens with an auto-darkening one, the auto-darkening version seems considerably more expensive than what is really necessary, but maybe it's worth it for all I know. I mean I did find a picture that showed their auto-darkening lens includes a clock, that is one damn expensive clock. I was considering the miller black classic '260938' helmet but some things I've read makes it sound kind of fragile, I'd rather pay more for something that'll last and all that but I don't really know either way.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...0-lens-upgrade I didn't find an older thread that mentions someone else replacing their fixed lens on a similar version of this helmet. Thanks |
