I know that you are all pretty skeptical about some of this stuff but I bought this for my tig machine just to try it out and if really does save gasSent from my iPhone using TapatalkLONGEVITY 250EX w/ 25' weldcraft cs310 torchTorchmate w/ Hypertherm powermax 85   withFLASHCUT CNC PRO SERIES CONTROLS
Reply:I believe a dual stage regulator Will do the same.  (Not sure though)   I believe that gadget is supposed to prevent the extra puff of air when you initially pull the trigger on the torch.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:You could test it out with a flowmeter tester and see if it actually worksTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:2 stage reg won't solve the surge issue. All a two stage reg does is step the high pressure gas down to an intermediate pressure in the reg 1st, then steps that down to what you set the reg at. As far as the lower end of the reg is concerned you are constantly feeding is say 250 psi no matter what is in the cylinder. It's only when the cylinder drops below what ever that intermediate pressure is that things start to change. The output from the reg stays at whatever you set it at, say 20 PSI or 15 CFH if it has a flow meter attached. The surge comes from gas that builds up in the down stream system when the gas isn't flowing. The pressure sitting is a bit more than what you get when the gas is flowing. Thus you get a small "puff" of extra gas as soon as the solenoid opens. You would have a bigger puff, the more hose is between the machine and the flowmeter/reg..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
