hey guys, just found the site and joined up. great info so far.I am a dobber more than anything, I own a Ranger just for personal jobs. That being said, it has been setting up for a while and today i tried to weld with it and acted like the leeds were corroded or it was not getting contact.tried grounding with jumper cables to test neg. leed, no go. tried welding with the jumper cables just to check the pos. leed. I have to beleive it is the armature Can anybody give me the procedure for checking this or how to trouble shoot my problem? Thanks in advance............
Reply:Which model and code?Do you have a meter?Have you checked all the simple things?
Reply:Thanks for the one reply Billy. i pulled the covers off and the Armature was dirty. put a rock on it and it's welding fine.
Reply:OK good that it is going.
Reply:Take top back off and clean all of your wire connections also helps.
Reply:One of the problems this welder may have are the slip rings on the rotor getting dirty when I used to test rangers I would have to clean the slip rings with emery cloth to get a good contact with brushes. If you have soldered connection on your range and polarity switch make sure you dont have broken ore loose connection this was a problem for us at times |
