Well, I don't know what you would call it exactly, but I am running out of bench top space and don't have room to make another bench. I thought about making a pull out bench/table that would slide under my bench. Kind of like a drawer with a flat top. The concept is easy enough till I start thinking about mounting a vise and drill press to it. I think I could come up with a fairly easy way to attach and remove the vise when not in use, but I will need something sturdy enough to be able to hammer on. I doubt I'll be doing any metal forging, but I want it solid enough that I'm not going to break it loose. I thought about the 2" receiver idea, but feel like it will have too much twist and wiggle for my liking. Anyone have any ideas, or better yet, done anything similar?
Reply:A 2" receiver could be tightened up with set bolts 1 horizontal 1 vertical. As I visualize your drawer description you could have more movement on the drawer slides or if this is just a bench that hides under another  existing one how will this small table be made stable? Seems maybe your vise drill press addons should be mounted to you bigger existing tale and you additional slide out surface would be the smaller lighter addition.
Reply:Check this welding table build. There are two receivers for multiple uses .http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ble&highlight=A table extension will work fine and will be handy on longer projects. You are able to use 2'' tubing almost any length provide you have a couple of stands to assist on supporting the ends. Manufactured pipe stands are not too bad in cost, usually around $80.00.They are another shop handy item. If you buy from Zoro on there 30% off FLASH sale cheaper yet. Zoro does have a fixed  dollar amount to spend for the savings . Amazon has a variety too, folding are nice, Price:$77.69 Free Prime shipping once availableYou Save:$11.31 (13%)http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...VHFT036M3SBDSMhttps://www.zoro.com/sumner-v-head-p...00/i/G4415512/I cut a piece of 4'' channel to drop over the '' V '' for flat service work. Reply:Thanks guys. I know you can never have too much space, but not having enough to store and use the basics SUCKS! I'm trying to do everything in a 2 car garage...that houses 2 cars and a motorcycle.
