What wire is the best for A 36 steel I have a roll of .035 ER70S-6 I am using it with C-25 gas , I was just wandering if that is the best or is there something better I am getting ready to start a project and I will be welding sq. tube and angle and will not be welding anything thicker than 1/4 in. right now so I would be willing to get something else if there is a better choice . thanks Chris
Reply:This is just a matter of choice .If you ask 100 people you will get 102 differnt answers.
Reply:What size machine are you using and is it 120 volt or a 220 volt ?  Some machines  perform better with .030 wire instead of .035
Reply:If you're running a 220v machine like a 250 wirefeed that's exactly what I'd use. On a 110v machine like my HH140 I prefer .024 ER70s-6.-DoogieMiller 350PMiller Trailblazer 325 EFI w/ Excel PowerLincoln LN25 suitcase welderXMT 304/22a feederMiller Syncrowave 350LXMiller EconotigHobart Handler 140(2) Uni-Hydro 42-14Hypertherm 65 plasmaWEBB Gap bed lathe

Reply:IMO you have the perfect wire for that machine! Those are nice welders!-DoogieMiller 350PMiller Trailblazer 325 EFI w/ Excel PowerLincoln LN25 suitcase welderXMT 304/22a feederMiller Syncrowave 350LXMiller EconotigHobart Handler 140(2) Uni-Hydro 42-14Hypertherm 65 plasmaWEBB Gap bed lathe
Reply:When the material thickness mainly used is a 1/4" and thinner, for home use were speed of production isn't important, an .030 diameter solid wire is usually the best choice for a general purpose wire size. This is some of the best performing .030 diameter wire that I 've ran in a while. I'm not fond of the performance of most of the China made wires out there . Lincoln's L-56 is a good wire too. I like the INE a little better though. The INE wire reminds me of how Hobart's HB-28 use to perform before they decide to go with a China produced wire. The INE wire produces a very smooth running arc on my Ironman 230. The Ironman 230 produces a softer style like the 252, so I suspect the 252 would produce very good result with the wire.http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...dingprices-20/ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:.035 is the most common MIG wire used and is perfect for your 252. If you want more penetration turn the settings up for 3/8". It won't hurt on 1/4" material to run hotter.
Reply:.035 lincoln l56 super arc is what I use in my 252. Have tried other brands but always end up back with l56Millermatic 252millermatic 175miller 300 Thunderboltlincoln ranger 250smith torcheslots of bfh'sIf it dont fit get a bigger hammer
