LN 25 Help

Been a shop welder for almost 15yrs using outer shield wires . Resently ventured out into field work . With a Miller Trailblazer 302 coupled to a LN 25 running .068 NR232 . @ 22-23 voltsSet the miller to CV wire feed mode , set the selector on reverse polarity on the miller and LN 25 . Now heres where I get lost the LN25 has a switch above the feedrolls that can be switched from CV to CC modes . When I set it to CV it wont run for s**t (acts like its way to cold -barely melts the wire ) ,but when its in CC mode ( miller is still set to CV) it will run good ( not as good as it should )and I can put down fairly nice welds . Reply:Hello dawg11, you need to have your machine set for straight polarity, meaning the ground should be + and the LN 25 should be connected to the - terminal. As well as that, you should have the 302 set for CV output and the selector switch inside of the LN set for CV, then set the polarity switch on the front of the LN to -.  That should get you on the right track other than dialing in the voltage and the wirespeed. Reply:Allen -I have the switch on the LN 25 set to - and the same on the 302 (theres a switch on front of the machine to switch polairty) The LN 25 won't work unless both ( 302 & LN 25)are set the same way . I guess my main confusion comes from it not working when all is set to CV but it works so-so when the 302 is set to CV and the LN 25 is set to CC

Reply:NR 232 is a flux core self shielding wire. You want the positive weld lead going to the weldment and the negative lead to the LN 25. 22 to 23 volts, you will need around 175 to 195 ipm wire speed. LN 25 polarity switch set to negative. meter must read up scale. This will tell you if your set up right. Both welder and LN25 should be set on CV.You can make a few quick tests. make sure the HI/ low speed switch is working. If you can connect the LN 25 to a non engine welder I have a test for the CV CC  switch.Turn the wire speed up near max. release the feed pressure. pull the gun trigger. listen to the motor. with the motor running switch the cv/cc switch. you should hear a small change in motor speed. another test is to run the motor at a very slow speed and see if the speed is steady. stopping and starting and pulsing could mean bad brushes or a problem with the speed sensor.Remember outer shield wire uses positive voltage and flux core uses negative voltage on the gun. Post your results.
