need help with ranger 8

I just purchased a used ranger 8 and after getting the motor running I found that it did not have any output. The code number for the machine is 9972 and I have checked the rotor and it has 4.8 ohms and is not shorted to the shaft. i cleaned up the slip rings and the brushes look good. I looked at the pc board and there is four diodes on the bottom of the board and three of them are pretty burnt looking. The number on the board is L4848-2. my question is, what do i need to check before i replace the board, and did it just burn up on its own or did something cause it to burn up.

Reply:yes your right that number was L8484-2 and I appreciate the help. I have a friend that gave me the name of a place in town that is real reasonable and should be able to help me but i will take you up on your offer if i need to. thanks
Reply:hey just thought id let you know that when i called lincoln about the schematic i talked to their tech line and to say the least they were great. i was realy surprised to find that they offer such a good service to the public. he told me about 6 or 7 things to check and i went home that night and checked them and went the next day to a place that had the board that i needed and installed it. after some carborator cleaning and adjusting the thing runs and welds supper. thanks for the help
