gouging with plasma

I don't own a plasma cutter yet, but plan to get one in the future.  My question is about using plasma to gouge.  Can I use a plasma cutter to gouge welds etc the same as I use my Arcair now?Lincoln 250 IdealarcLincolc 255 PowermigLincoln SA 200 1940's with V4 WiscLincoln SA 200 1974 blackface

Reply:Make sure you have any special nozzles or consumables for doing gouging with your plasma cutterCEP thats quite true and sometimes you get into a place where you just have to use a torch with a scarf tip because nothing else will get in there and then it starts overheating the tip and popping ..nothing is perfect in all things you get into when doing repair weldingBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:I like it too, mostly for gouging cracks - using only the power needed to get the job done gives it great economy.Like mentioned above, if you need to reach straight ahead CAC is still needed.Matt
