Reply:They are made in china or taiwan, can't remember *edit* beat me to it, it chinaActually I don't want to remember, because I hate to admit I like an china tool so much. I have some of their locking c clamp pliers and they are great, I like the release handle better than other I've used.I have yet to try their sliding arm clamps like you got, I have some cheaper ones made by hobart that are ok, can't justify the price of besseys, stronghand seems like a good middle ground. How do you like your so far eliot?
Reply:I don't own any of these, but I've seen a bunch of them at the LWS...they definitely look heavy duty and looking through their catalog, they seem to put a lot of thought into their clamps.  I don't think I'd run out and replace all my old clamps with these, but I'm definitely planning on buying these when I need more clamps.kevKevin / Machine_Punk from The Aerodrome Studio - Lincoln PowerMIG 210 MP - Meco N Midget w/custom welding station - Vintage Victor 100Current Projects: The Aerodrome Studio
Reply:Those are just a Bessey knock off. The originals are made in Germany. What coin is that? Reply:4130, good point! How much does one pay for a Bessey? This is a 4 1/2 inch capacity 3 1/2 inch throat clamp. And the coin is a dime. I'll get besseys if they arent too much more but they are still not made here.  Are miller clamps made here?Miller diversion 165Miller mig 211Hypertherm pm 30Milwaukee 6230 14 inch chop sawMd 45 mag drill (RIP; fell on its head)New MD 45! Reply:I have a couple and have found them to be okay, I just don't like the amount of flex in them until they are really tight.
Reply:I've paid about $30 each for bessey clamps. But they were a much larger size, so, not quite apples to apples. Unfortunately bessey does make some clamps in china, so you gotta check. Bessey actually mentions which ones are german in their catalog so you can cross reference if you're shopping online.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:I have a dozen or so various sized sronghand clamps and don't have a single bad thing to say about them. (oher then they should be made in the USA)  The comparable Bessey clamps were $20-$80 more depending on the size of the clamp. Why buy it for $10 when you can build it yourself for $100.
Reply:I own several Bessy and Strong Hand clamps. 4 Bessy's, 6 Strong Hands.  The Strong Hands can be reversed so as to make them pushers, the Bessy's can not.  Both are very well made and do what I purchased them for. Also, the Strong Hands include at no extra charge, optional attachments that the Bessy's do not include.   Best  Bob

Whomever made that thing got screwed out of a decent wage, and the guy who used to make them got screwed out of a job.
Reply:The Strong Hand clamps display has replaced the Bessy in my LWS. Sales is the driving force.I have several Strong Hand and Bessy. I bought the Bessy for their brute force holding power in commercial applications. The Strong Hand for their versatility in the home shop. The clamping screw can be reversed to push and the additional "trinkets" for extending and gripping round and angle. So use wise, they both have +/-'s. Like any tool, it needs to be sized to the job. The big Bessy's however, were over a hundred a piece. Both have served me well and I've had no failures in either. The Strong Hand examples are on the left and Bessy on the right. Attached Images
