Cutting with Natural Gas

A buddy of mine has lots of natural gas cylinders that look like Large oxygen bottles. They are about the same and size weight as an oxygen bottle and are for sure a high pressure cylinder. He claims they have around 3000psi in them but we have no way to be sure how full they really are. My question is not can natural gas be used for oxy fuel cutting but what would it take to make this cylinder work? It seems that most cng cylinders have around 400 psi like propane and Im curious what type of regulator would be needed to make this work because the propane regulators only go to 400psi. Could i put different fittings on an oxygen regulator and safely use it with the cng? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Reply:I dont have the bottle in front of me but iirc it was about a 1/2-1 inch threaded male end on the valve.
Reply:You can certainly cut with CNG, and makers list tips for it. Victor uses the same tips for LP and CNG.http://www.usweldingsupply.com/victor-2-gpn.htmlhttp://www.weldingandgasestoday.org/...rnative-fuels/I'd sacrifice an oxygen regulator for CNG use, BUT I'd ensure it was clearly identified by removing the guage covers and marking the faces legibly with a Sharpie or similar marker. I would NEVER use that regulator for oxygen again without sending it off for professional rebuild to include "oxygen safe" cleaning.
