Ok, a while back I posed the question of why my machine was grounding out to my truck, i.e. when I touch the ground clamp to the truck bed it arcs. I spoke with a welder buddy of mine yesterday, and he said that it could be the insulators on the lead lugs are bad thus completing the circuit there. Has anyone else heard of this, and if so where can I get "good" insulators for a reasonable cost?Oh, I should point out that the exciter does not kick off until the ground clamp is touched to the bed. Thanks for any advice.
Reply:It's probably worth using meter to verify / locate the ground fault. Disconnect the internal lead from the terminal and check if the terminal is grounded.   http://www.weldmart.com/LINCOLN%20TE...PAGE%20MST.htmLincoln SA200, HH135, Lencospot, HF80 Inverter, Rockwell 11x35 lathe, HF drill mill, Kama 554 tractor w/ FEL & BH, Belarus 250AS, lot's of Chinese tools
Reply:Hey thanks for the link... I am guessing u mean  disconnect the positive cable coming from the generator to the lead terminals.
