It's come that time that I need to get a couple more generators and being it has been so long since I have bought one I figured I would see what is recommended here. These are being used in construction (concrete flatwork) so being compatiable with a welder is not needed. Basically I have a Honda that is 6500 watts that is in good working order @ about 12 years old, really only used to run the electric jackhammer anymore when we can't find electric on the job but its rather large to be lugging around and takes a bit of trailer/truck space. I also have 2 Yamaha generators that one was purchased around 7 and the other around 9 years ago. They have been real troopers but there time has come as they eat oil, blow smoke, and have had the cages rebuilt twice now on both. They are similar to this. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/...6/0/specs.aspxReally I am just looking for advice on what to replace them with. I want quality as these must be dependable, something comparable to what I have such as Honda or Yamaha....anything of that caliber of quality. They need to be able to run a circular saw @ 15 amps as well as a hammer drill which runs at 7 amps. I know the Yamaha listed above is only rated at 21.6 amps but it has served us well running both tools. They also need to be able to take a little weather as they will see rain/water in transportation...which the above have done fine. Also where to buy at the best prices? My local concrete tool suppliers are high as hell on generators so they are out. I don't mind paying the premium on something I can't get elsewhere but lets face it generators are everywhere.Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Reply:I just bought a wacker 5600 and Im pretty impressed with it. Dont waste your money on a non commercial generator. Stick with Wacker,Winco, Multiquip Ect. I can say that some of the Multiquips use a steel fuel tank which gets dented in and collects water which gets into the tank via the fill port. watch out for that, its a headache. Honda commercial or Briggs commercial motors are about as good as it gets in my opinion.Local 597
Reply:I agree, Wacker would be my first choice with Honda and Yamaha being second. Try United Rentals, I used to purchase a lot from them, mainly based on price."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:cant go wrong with the honda generators as fall as small easily portable generators are concerned.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:You should look at Northern Tool for your generator purchase. I purchased their brand Powerhouse 7000 and have ran the dog out of it. Northern Tool's warranty and extended warranties are hard to beat. My generator came with a two year warranty. I purchased the extended warranty that covers me for an additional two years. They also let me purchase accidental damage warranty that covers any physical damage to the generator (falls of the truck, hit by a forklift, etc). If your looking at a Honda or Yamaha your spending some $$$ so I would protect my investment.Have you looked at Honda's inverter style generators? Those things are quiet! You can also parallel two of them together.
Reply:Might sound stupid but Miller makes one of the best generators in the business. A Bobcat 250 is a 10KW generator.Might be too big and its a tad more money than a straight gen set but it has a lot more flexibilty. The Wildcat 200 is cheaper and smaller ( 6.5 kw) although not near the welder but it does save you a grand, which sets it just a couple hundred more than a straight gen set.
Reply:The main use of generator is, to produce electricity. We can go through online and off-line marketing, Various kinds of generators are available such as portable generators, inverter generators and many more. Where can I buy the affordable and quality generators ? |
