Twisting 1 inch pipe

I need some ideas on "twisting " two pieces of light sch pipe together Similar to 2 strand cable, they would cross or invert about every 12 to 14 inchesWould be doing 10 to 12 foot pieces at a time Any ideas appreciated.
Reply:Weld the two ends together.  Clamp one end in a vise or other suitable clamp.  Take a rosebud to it.  Twist it with a big pipe wrench.
Reply:Just brainstorming off the top of my head right now....I'd be afraid with the heat he might simply collapse the pipe if he's using something like sch 10/conduit. He might be able to do it cold if the vise is solid and he's got a big enough lever of the twister. 1/2" wouldn't be too tough, but of course as sizes increase, so will the difficulty in twisting.Option 2 might be to twist individual pipes around a solid mandrel. Set up one end with a piece of angle etc to lock that end of the pipe, then rig the other end up with a collar to go over the mandrel and hold the 2nd end along with handles for twisting. You probably have to twist both pieces the same number of revolutions around the mandrel so they will nest right later..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I use my rigid 300 to drive a one ton granny gear truck transmission. On the output yoke I bolt a plate, then just weld whatever I am twisting to the plate. I have twisted  4, 5/8" solid bars in a much tighter twist than that.
