Correct me if im wrong. But does the arc control knob on lincolns chopper technology adjust voltage?Ranger 305gMillermatic 140 AutosetDewalt Chopsaw2 grindersMy Fists
Reply:No, it adjusts arc force (stick) or inductance (MIG). Higher numbers = more arc force or "pinch".JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps

Reply:so i guess it has no effect on voltage? increases amperage to compensate for short arc or lower voltageseems counter intuitive. i like to use my arc length to control puddle size. if the machine fights with me on that, im falling out.explains a lot actually, i naturally run the millers with a stiff arc, as that is what i thought i was doing with my sa (rarely gets over 70 on fine dial and i like it), but with the millers, i have puddles that occasionally end up on the ground. i'll try and soften it up and see what that doesbosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin

Reply:What does it cost to replace the board on these machines?I was at my LWS this week, and a guy was loading a new Ranger on his flatbed. Later I looked out the window, and he was also loading an older Ranger.I asked "What's up with that?" LWS guy said that the board had gone out on the old one, and he'd decided to buy a new welder. I didn't ask what it cost compared to a new welder."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
