Sooo ... now that I have decide on a helmet ( simple passive filter ), I didn't know I had a choose of lens colors!I have only had one or two filters in the past 30 years .... green. I just checked mine and it says "AO" and "FW10"I really only thought I only had to choose a shade. On my post about helmets, someone suggested they use "gold plated blue/green shade 10 lenses by Phillips safety".I also see there is magenta, green, .....So, is one color better than another? Is one brand better than another?I started reading the manufactures sites ... everyone claims there lens is the best. Most of my welding now is MIG (a small amount of stick and TIG) but I bought my helmet years ago when I got my first buzz box. Back when I was 14, someone must have told me to use a #10 shade ..... is this even right? It has always worked for me but that does not mean it was the right shade. Thanks ..... Mike
Reply:If you are color blind, you will most likely prefer a blue lens. That's my own experience anyway, otherwise it's personal preference. I also like Amber lenses.
