Okay let me know how bad or good or what different I should do. I know besides the 2 welds don't meet....LOL14 gauge with Hobart 140 gas 25/75, set at #2 heat and 40 wire speed. .30 wire Attached Images
Reply:I don't know much about mig so no commenting from me. But post some better quality pics if you want good answers
Reply:Does not look too bad at all but I would be running wide open - probably with .023.
Reply:kind of hard to tell but it looks a bit cold. the toes don't seem wetted in.Miller Multimatic 255
Reply:i would space out my circles a little bit more and turn the heat up a bit. other than that it looks good.
Reply:......and you're not wrapping around the corners, becuz a high stress failure point is required in this assembly?Blackbird

Reply:It does look like on the inside weld that on the bottom things got sped up getting some undercut or maybe things got shaky and it stepped out too far. Haz looks pretty good though. It looks to be a pretty decent weld.
Reply:Looks like incomplete fusion at the root but I would have to take a closer look to tell for sure
Reply:Looks pretty good to me.  Both welds are cold at the very start but then look good.  Maybe try turning up the heat to get a hotter start and then you will have to move along faster after the start to not blow through.
Reply:You are correct, I have been welding off and on for a couple years.( I am getting more serious now and spending more time practicing)  I am just a hobbyist. I have had no formal training. I do nothing structural its all for fun. This is just a table frame. I seem to have better luck with welding 11 gauge which is usually what I buy. I tend to have more issues going with the thinner stuff.....  Originally Posted by mikecwikIt might be because he is learning.
Reply:Looks like your moving around a lot and being uneven. I have the same problem so I put both hands on the gun and being right handed I stretch out my left hand and pinky finger to just touch something to give a bit of stability. That helps me get smoother welds when I can do it. For me ot only takes a light touch on something to stabalize my hands.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw
