hi, just a quick question. i asked this on a tractor forum but don't know why i didn't ask here also, since its steel related.i need a new 1"x 7.5" steel pivot pin for my backhoe and was wondering what material you guys would use. cheapest OE one i can find is online for $40 +  shipping  don't even want to know what the dealer charges...on the tractor forum someone recommended 1144 stressproof from onlinemetals.com.what do you guys think? their prices are very cheap also.thank you
Reply:We used stressproof for skid loader pins all the time at my old job.  I still use it for the same type stuff at home.My name's not Jim....

Reply:Theres the deal you looking for - i use a lot of old hydraulic shafts for pins. They wear really well especially with a consistant greasing. I have a couple hydraulic shops local that give me there old shafts that are bent - normally for pins theres plenty straight to cut out .

Reply:Super welder I didn't get a chance to ship that today I was busy. I will definitely ship it tomorrow. Sorry.
Reply:Super welder I shipped that pin today. I sent you a pm with the tracking number.
Reply:hey Down, i sent you a PM but didn't get a reply. please send me your paypal add.this guy sent me the pin without even getting payment, what a great guy. BTW, the envelope it came in had 2 gaping holes in it and USPS put a sticker on it saying it was already damaged and contents were missing, way to try to cover your *** and predict the future USPS.  again, please send me your paypal add. because i can't take this for free.thanks
Reply:I wonder how USPS did that? They must have just thrown it around. It is the correct size right? The pm never showed up as me having a new one in my control panel. It was there when I looked it up just didn't say that I had an unread message like it normaly does.Last edited by down19992000; 09-14-2012 at 03:55 AM.
Reply:I built a PF hoe and I have replaced the major wear pins with grade 8 bolts.  I get them cheep from a place called Fastners Inc and then have them center bored and then I weld on a zerc.  By using the bolts and a Nyloc nut I dont have to mess with retainer pins shearing any more.
Reply:My shop teacher in HS had me making pins for a loader for a guy, Not sure what we used for material but I remember turning them with heads on them and boring and crossdrilling for grease fittings, They must have worked cause I never heard a complaint about them.
