Looking for a corded drill for drilling mostly metal, some wood, etc.  Do not need/want hammer feature.  Preferably 1/2 inch.  Price range of 50-80.Thinking about this porter cable http://www.lowes.com/pd_36939-79992-...=corded+drillsmaybe skilhttp://www.lowes.com/pd_300239-353-6...=corded+drillsWhat is yalls favorite in that price range
Reply:I think drills for drilling metal is back to the old saying:"ya get's what ya pay for". I'm of the opinion the 1/2" Milwaukee hole shooter is the most powerful for it's size. If a 1/2" bit hangs up you better be ready to release the trigger!!                             MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:I see that porter cable has a max rpm of 800. That's a good thing for the big holes, step drills, hole saws. Lots of torque probably. Depends on what you think you might do most of. I've got a dewalt that tops out around 1200 or so. Plenty of power for that rpm but it has issues on the low end. It is variable but not variable the way I think it should be. You can't really creep into it. Slight squeeze of the trigger and it gets right after it. Nice powerfull drill motor tho."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:CraigslistLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:If you're not buying Milwaukee, you're wasting your money.

Reply:I have a cordless Makita, good for light duty work.  Battery needs to be replaced.  Also have a 1\2" corded Dewalt.  Its a VERY angry unit when the bit hangs up.  I keep a unibit in it, and only use it if I can't do the work in my drill press.  I think it was $75 or so when I bought it new 7 or 8 years ago.AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
