Hey guys. New to the forum, glad I found it. I've got problem with my 215. I tried searching a for a related problem but couldn't find anything. I've got a 215 I've had for about 5 years now. The last time I used it, it worked great. Shut it off and it sat for about 3 weeks with no use. Turned it on got all set to weld and the wire wont arc. When I pull the trigger, gas and wire come out like normal. I've checked the ground all the way back to the machine as far as I could without pulling the panels off. Not really sure what to check. If somebody could point me in the right direction on what to check for, I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks.
Reply:Get you voltmeter. test for Voltage at the weld terminals. only turns on with trigger. If you have voltage there you have a problem with the gun.No voltage then problem in side case. First take the parts tray off. The contactor and voltage switch can be seen. Make sure contactor is working and make contact. Check voltage switch and make sure it is making good contact. After this It is time to unplug welder and remove all the covers. Follow all the large wires back from the weld terminals to where they come from. up to the switch and contactor. then to the transformer. Look for a burnt open connection. The fact you have wire drive and the gas valve is working, tells me you have power into the welder and our problem is in the weld circuit I have seen contactors and voltage switches fail in these units.
Reply:Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try and let you know what I find out. |
