Well, what do you think of this one? What should I look for if the tanks are empty and I can't demo it?http://www.ebay.com/itm/140894253881...84.m1423.l2649Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 and WP17. 75A AC is for pipe thawing!HH 140 - new addtion 9/2012.I didn't agree, but hoped for Hope and Change.I got change for myself and my family: for the worse. This is the reality of: Barackalypse Now. Reply:The description says the tanks still have gas and they can demonstrated at any time if you click on the description link you should be able to see that info.Millermatic 135Craftsman 7 Hp 80 Gallon           2 stage compressor
Reply:The ad says the tanks have gas.  I see a name cast into the oxygen tank's ring, which usually means that the tank was not originally privately owned.  Some weld shops won't fill a tank with a name on the ring, so that tank could be worthless depending on what your LWS's policy is.Although that torch sort of looks like a Craftsman-branded Harris, some more research into who made torches for Craftsman is in order.  You may know this, but Craftsman outsourced their torches and different companies made them at different times.  A quick Google search should fill you in.  Some of their older torches were made by NCG, which has long been out of business.  Regulators look like two-stage, which will be expensive to repair when the time comes and offer little benefit in the meantime.  That set is old enough that repair costs need to be considered. If it were me, I'd keep my money in my wallet and look elsewhere for a Smith, Victor, Harris, etc set.
Reply:Thanks, good info. I'm real skittish because I don't much about the equipment. Great to have you guys around.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 and WP17. 75A AC is for pipe thawing!HH 140 - new addtion 9/2012.I didn't agree, but hoped for Hope and Change.I got change for myself and my family: for the worse. This is the reality of: Barackalypse Now. Reply:The cylinders are very large. Around me those would be leased or rental cylinders most times. If they were from the same company I have my account with, it would be no big deal for me to swap them out most likely, as they never bother to look and see just what I have on lease anyways. However if they were from another company, they would be useless once the gas was gone. The up side of large cylinders like that is that acetylene withdrawal rates on things like rosebuds is less of an issue.Hobo has suggested in the past you meet at the LWS when you go to do the deal and make sure you can exchange the cylinders before purchase. With something this large, that sort of makes sense..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
