LN25 testing on Squarewave 200

I got a LN25 the other day in a trading deal and want to test it but only power source I have is a Lincoln Squarewave 200 and a MM211. Would either work to see if it comes on ?I don't plan to weld with it, just see if wire feed motor and all works . I don't have an engine drive welder so I'm not sure what to do with it.

Reply:The main issue in play here (regarding the SW 200) is the high frequency.I remember you mentioning a Dialarc HF blowing up some LN25s back in the day Carl. It's quite likely the HF had not been turned off and when you hit go, the HF traveled thru the feeder circuitry and smoked it.If the HF cannot be turned off and you are NOT ABSOLUTELY SURE ITS OFF, DO NOT CONNECT A FEEDER TO THAT WELDER!!!!!The high frequency start will instantly cause serious, expensive damage to the feeder.If you can put it in stick mode you should be ok, but if there's any doubt at all, just hold off until you can find a stick machine with DC output to try it on.IMHO of courseLast edited by 7A749; 04-14-2016 at 06:31 PM.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948

Reply:Put the LN-25 to stick dc, should be fine to test.. Feeder to CC,and avoid AC high freq because it will smoke the thing.. Reply:Thanks for the quick responses. I think I'll take it to a friends and let him hook to his welder ( Bobcat I think ) and try it. He runs a Hobart WF on it .Sure don't want to mess up any equipment . Again, thanks.
