picked up one of these for pretty cheap yesterday... http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/222/3959.pdfNeeds a blade, but other than that works fine... anybody have one? Things to watch out for? Worth having around?Last edited by reverendxlt; 12-20-2012 at 11:15 PM.
Reply:Manufactured by Atlas Press.  Good saw!  We had one in a shop I worked in a few decades ago and\d it worked great after a bit of fine tuning and a Starret blade.  Pretty simple to rebuild most of Atlas Press equipment as far as bearings go .  Common bearing sourced from any decent bearing supply.RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches
Reply:I've got one.  Capacity is pretty small, but other than that, it is a decent little saw.  Feed cylinder on mine really needs to be rebuilt - leaks like a sieve.Who is John Galt?
Reply:I have one that's very similar.  You can get rebuild parts from clausing.  I've had to fuss with it quite a bit to get it working usefully, and I've just about got it there.  I also picked mine up for pretty cheap.  Here is one tip don't lubricate the blade with oil.  It's not good for the rubber tires that drive the blade.  Just cut dry.  Also I found it was necessary to bottom out the tension adjust spring to get it adequately tensioned so that it cuts straight.  I like the hydraulic feed cylinder.
Reply:sounds like I can put it to good use. Thanks for the tip on blade lubrication, I'll avoid that . Thanks for the replies, gentlemen!
