My new to me Century 170gs has started only welding for a few seconds at a time. The machine stays powered up but it only welds for a few seconds then stops and then restarts a second later. Any ideas ????
Reply:If the fan stays on, wire keeps feeding but welder looses arc.Could be the thermostat or a diode going out. look and see if your welder is a model 117-079. you will find the model number hidden in a line of text with the ratings on the bottom of the front panel. If wire and fan stop also. look at the line switch and power cord.Post back model number and real good symptoms. what works and when. Can send you a diagram if you PM me your e-mail.
Reply:The fan stays on but the wire seems to stop and no sparking. Yes it is a 117-079
Reply:Fan on, no wire or spark. could be miggun trigger or the pc board.must have trigger switch closed to get spark and wire feed. check with ohm meter at pc board, see if it closes with every pull of the trigger. Another test is to carefully measure the drive voltage to the sold state relay. read the label on the block case. It will give a voltage range. Drive voltage must be in that range for as long as the trigger is pulled. If you need a diagram and parts manual send me your e-mail by PM.
Reply:Thanks I will check it when I get the time. |
