Reply:the black material is high impact Polyurethane, this is actually an older design still in use but the Newer Gen 2 pad incorporates a 1/4" Shim that can be added or removed as the front mount sacks out maintaining the 3/16 to 1/4 " air gap required to keep the rubber mount vibration free ride and yet still help prevent case damage by letting the engine move too far forward on hard landings...there's 158 in use today...Last edited by B_C; 02-10-2015 at 09:22 PM. Reply:Exactly, the top Harley wheelie guys don't use a Landing Pad even though most of them have broken a case or two....The concept for the devise was to help reduce the engine movement and help with the acute angle the front mount and case experienced....Breaking the cases Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
