Reply:Looks Like a Silver Sharpie like I use________________________________Everlast PA140STEverlast PowerPlasma 50And no you can't Borrow them
Reply:Looks like a paint marker from the pic.http://www.staples.com/paint+pens/directory_paint+pens
Reply:Thanks guys.Can these pens resist any heat? I mean when welding can you still see the markings when you are getting close?
Reply:I use paint pens exclusively, and most of the marks they produce remain readable in the HAZ if the paint has dried. Beware that once the underlying surface gets hot and cures the paint, it's pretty much permanent and you'll have to remove it mechanically as opposed to chemically.-Chris
Reply:cant remember the name but that is what used to be used as white-out. the body is a squeeze-able plastic full of white paint (white-out)  and the tip is a litle metal valve that when depressed let the paint flow.  the work great but the metal tip wears out quick.  we used them in the shipyard for layout that need to last a long time.  they resist heat pretty good, the paint turns a yellowish when heatedhere ya go;
Reply:I haven't seen the Nissin, but it looks like it may be better than the once I've been using. In my experience, the fibrous tip of standard paint pens is great up to the point where you use it to trace something, at which time the fibers start to fray and stick out, then the tip goes from fine to broad.-Chris
Reply:they all have their applications, the metel 'marker' has a metal tip so the line is always crisp about 1/16" wide.  good for layout, accurate measurements and such. the paint 'pen' have wider mark and are great for labeling and rough layout.

Reply:Silver streak pencils are what you want if you want to see your marks while welding or cutting. They don't burn off, don't rub off easily like soap stone, and are luminescent when light from the welding arc hits it. I think silver streak is just a brand name of one kind, but they are known as welder's pencils. The mechanical ones are the way to go. They have a sharpener built into the cap.
Reply:I have a bunch of stuff collected over a couple years.  Favorite are the markal pencils and the lincoln paint marker 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! HTP Invertig 400HTP Invertig 221HTP ProPulse 300HTP ProPulse 200 x2HTP ProPulse 220MTSHTP Inverarc 200TLP HTP Microcut 875SC
Reply:I have two of the blue markal silver streak pencils with refills, flat markal red riter, flat markal silver streak, flat soapstone, red and silver pencils, silver and black sharpies, white and yellow felt tip paint markers ... and my favorite is the Dykem TexPen ball point paint marker.   you can never have too many marking options.AWS CWI xxxx21711968 SA200  Originally Posted by WelderMike  I hate being bipolar, It's awesome.
