So my uncle gave me this jabsco pump it's 3.6 amp 2.0 gpm. I was thinking about making a tig water cooler out of it, would this be an adequate pump for that? It was free so i figure it would be a cool project. He also gave me a stainless box that looks like it would hold about 3 gallons of water, which I could make bigger if i needed to. Let me know what u guys think. Thanks
Reply:I am guessing that jebsco pump is a diaphragm pump? That and a 3 gallon tank work fine, unless you are going to be running like 350 amps of balanced AC non stop, at that point you might want to add a cooler.old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder

Reply:If it has enough power to push the water it has to work. Add a heater core from a car and a fan and you'll be able to cool the water
Reply:I'm gonna get a different pump, I don't like the 12v idea. Id rather have 110. Any suggestions?

Reply:Your don't have to use 12v fans if your pump is 110.  Plenty of small fan motors are available cheap that are 110. The heater core won't care what kind of fan is pushing air across itBlue stock- shopmaster, a/bp330, maxstar 150stl, maxstar 210, hf251, Tbolt ac/dc, mm 135Red stock-ranger 8, weldanpower 150, idealarc 250 ac/dcEsab plasma, Victor OA set, Air products ac/dc 400 ampIt's me flipped in snow..doughnut fail
Reply:It would be a bit safer with a 12v dc pump and fan. I know it's a very small chance but with water, weld current ac or dc...things could fail and get dangerous...I know it's a small chance but I feel better with my home made cooler running on 12 volt dc. I'm using a rv battery charger/12v power supply. Parts are very cheap and it works for pennies compared to dollars. I probably have 15 or 20 dollars in my cooler total.Blue stock- shopmaster, a/bp330, maxstar 150stl, maxstar 210, hf251, Tbolt ac/dc, mm 135Red stock-ranger 8, weldanpower 150, idealarc 250 ac/dcEsab plasma, Victor OA set, Air products ac/dc 400 ampIt's me flipped in snow..doughnut fail
Reply:Dirt bike radiator makes a good cooler also...already has a nice cap to fill and small electric 12v dc fan. Reply:I rebuilt a MILLER RADIATOR-1 with a procon pump and used a 12v computer fan... ( with neon blue lights to boot) you just clip off the end of a wall wart/battery charging plug.... and hardwire it to the fan. worked brilliantly.   the plugs come in all different size volt flavors ...  radio shack sells them also.
