Reply:you would have to slow it down allot or you would just burn blades up . i did a conversion on a grizzly which is just like the one you have using a speed reducer and a jack shaft it works pretty good but is some work to convert but not impossible .
Reply:how about a harbor freight bandsaw and make a vertical mount for it..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:you can do a jackshaft conversion which will slow the sfm of the band , but it won't make the frameany stiffer .Miller S60 feederCobramatic push/pull feederMiller CP-252tsLincoln Tig250/Tig250Lincoln weldpak 100 -italianC-H 90A- italianHarris & Victor O\Afull manual & CNC machine shop

Reply:If you'll get the right blade, you can cut metal. .
Reply:I have another version of that saw For $150.00 I would buy it.There is enough height between the pulleys to either add a 3 rd. step pulley on a pillow block, which I did or a gear reducer box. A bimetal blade is what you want, pitch depends on the thickness you want to cut.I have been cutting .030 thick to 1/4" thick steel and Alum. with mine also tubing.
Reply:"If you'll get the right blade, you can cut metal. .". you have to modify the drive to run much slower.if you run any bandsaw on steel at 2000-3500 sfm that wood saws use , you'll smoke the blade in 20 seconds . steel typically cuts at 100-250 sfm on a bandsaw .Last edited by tnmgcarbide; 01-15-2013 at 09:10 PM.Miller S60 feederCobramatic push/pull feederMiller CP-252tsLincoln Tig250/Tig250Lincoln weldpak 100 -italianC-H 90A- italianHarris & Victor O\Afull manual & CNC machine shop

Reply:Yes. You're right about the tnmgcarbide. You have to change the speed of the band saw. This can be done by chaging drive pulleys or speed reducer gearbox. |
