Just got this welder has been stored for 10 years. Finally got it runing but no power output.so i put 12 volts to each brush while i had a meter in the 110 volt outlet.got 110 volts at high idle , tried to weld and it worked perfect but when you shut it off and restart no power again. So i did it again with battery and got power again , shut it off after 10 minutes of welding .Tried restart and no power again.checked the fuse for excite wire and its ok.dont have a wire schematic or a book .any tips on how to cure this issue, could i just wire a positive and negative wire to the brush holder with a momentary switch to the battery to excite it / will only be used maybe 4 or 5 times a year.
Reply:Take your code number and go to lincoln electric .com Down load the owners manual. There is a diagram in it that should be close. You might be lucky and find a diagram pasted to the inside of the cover, I feel there is a problem with the automatic flashing circuit,Clip a dc volt meter on the brush terminals. see if you get 10 to 12 volts during cranking. If no volts, leave meter connected to wire 201 move to wire 225 on fuse F1, If volts here D3 is open. follow wire 225 to it. No volts check wire 230 on other side of the fuse, Follow wire 230 back to a 25 watt resister Check both sides. Then follow wire 229 to the oil pressure switch.Should be 12VDC here during crank and after oil pressure comes up.Make sure both sides of the run stop switch open and close and let 12VDC through. The flashing circuit starts at the engine crank switch, goes to the run stop switch, the to,a diode D4 to R3 to F1 to  D3 and ending at the slip rings. The ground side leaves the negative slip ring Wire 201 and goes to Bridge diode D2 out wire 5 to ground.Get diagram follow these directions and find the open. Good luck.
Reply:will give it a try Thats for the quick response .will keep you updated
Reply:ok i started the trouble shooting and down loaded a manual.not being that good at wiring im trying to figure this out so bare with me.no power at brushes buring crakning, kept 201 connected  but could not find wire 225 so i started backwards as you described.both sides of the run stop switch get 12 volts when turned oncrank switch gets 12 voltstraced the white wire 231 to the diode and got power but now im not sure what the resistor looks like, when you follow the wires it goes to what looks like a black tube with push on connectors is that the resitor ?if so how do i test it.?will it hurt anything if i wire 2 wires to the brush holders and put in 2 momentary switches to excite it manually when i need to use it ?.sorry but im brain dead when it comes to wiring but im trying to learn. Thanks for the help and patience
Reply:The black tube should measure 10 ohms. 225 might be 226 The diagram is very hard to make out. Do you have 12vdc on the fuse holder during cranking? Both terminals. If so, the the flashing diode is open. Get a new one and the welder should come to life.To put a manual flashing circuit in you will need a diode and a momentary switch. The diode that has 231 on it is not the flashing diode,It has wires 219 and 225/226. In a lot of machines the flashing diode is inside a tube of sleeving Tied into the wiring harness. Black cylinder with a white stripe. About 1 inch leads to push on terminals. keep digging.
Reply:ok i will keep digging at it , i will check at the fuse holder for 12 volts while cranking. The wiring schematic under the cover is non readable , and yea the wiring diagram thats on line is very hard to read.ccawgc thats for all your help , i will keep trying
Reply:i only have 5 volts while cranking at the fuse and it continuess to drop volts the more you crank it.still looking for the flashing diode. Thanks again
Reply:This is on a smaller Weldanpower unit than your 250 G9 Pro but the Flashing diode probably looks like this one and mounted to the rear case wall per the parts page (item #45).  Blocking diode (item #46) should be right there with it too so don't confuse the two.  Check for wire #s per the wiring diagram to identify the right one.Last edited by duaneb55; 04-18-2011 at 08:35 AM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:excellent i have 2 of those on the back housing, boy i love pictures they make it so much easier .now i willl figure out which one is the flashing diode.will start tracing
Reply:ok i found which one is the flashing diode, i only have 5 volts going into the fuse holder from wire 230.i am still checking all this with one lead connected to wire 201 correct .and 5 volts coming from wire 228 going to the diode coming out of the diode i have 5 volts and if you crank for 5 seconds the volts drop down .so now do i need to trace back to the last place it has 12 volts while cranking ?
Reply:ok so i traced back to where i did not have 12 volts , found a wire split inside the wrap that goes to the oil pressure switch, (power out ) fixed that and away it goes instant power.I cant thank you guys enough for the expertise you have in this field , i could not have done it without your help. Thanks again keep up the great work

Reply:I second that.
