anyone running the new 300 Lincoln's got out? Like it?
Reply:Yeah my buddy picked one up a couple weeks ago... i got to run it all day yesterday... what a badass, beautiful machine. Its got to be the nicest welding, smoothest machine i have ever used. I love the fact that you have continuous adjustment on the course current.I am definitely going to have to buy one... I already have 8 engine drive welders, whats one more.Steve1946 Shorthood - 1958 Blackface - 1962 Redface - 1967 Redface - 1968 Redface - 1970 Blackface - 2005 300D - 2008 Vantage 300 -and a ton of other welding stuff
Reply:how would you rate it's weldability against the shorthoods and the red faces? I've tried some new machines and was really disapointed with their capabilities, I know what I want to see and they can't give it to me and I won't accept anything less, was getting ready to put a diesel on my 48 but may try one, they are slick lookin
Reply:IMO - if you like the 300D - then I'd say you will love the new sae300. I say that because if you look at the specs they are pretty similar looking to me. lolalso IMO - a short hood or even an sa200 was in need of a very good engine governor. A diesel doesn't have a governor (so to speak) like the red seal's did. These machines were pretty dependent on engine rpms (IMO) as I could tell even the slightest difference myself. To run a diesel on a dc generator welder you need a good governor (IMO) and without one (IMO) that means a redesign of the generator and also the exciter circuits. In other words - the generator must be made to be less rpm dependent than they used to be. lolBut thats only my opinion so who cares. Good luck man later |
