Just got a new to me LN25 and I am anxious to try out flux core from one of my engine drives. I am looking for a wire with 7018 specs and a wire size recommendation. Gas coverage is an option, CV at this time is not. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Reply:nr211 or 212..045 would be a good size.CEP will be here in a sec with pics....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:Thanks for the rapid reply. Any particular brand? What is the difference between the 211 and 212? Gas coverage required? Thanks.

Reply:With a CC only engine drive, you can pretty much forget any T-8 wires. I really like Lincoln's NR-212, and Hobart's 21-B. I've never failed a 1-inch side bend V-butt test plate with 21-B. These are self shielded wires. I ran these welds with a 1966 SA-200, no CV box. Reply:Thanks for the rapid replies. I have an .045 drive set on the way. Now all I need to do is find some wire and check to see what liner and tip I have. Thanks again for all the help.

Reply:Sorry for the late reply. I believe that it is a Lincoln gun. It says magnum 300 on the handle.
Reply:NR 211 is not equivelant to 7018 and I don't think NR 212 is either. You need a T-8 wire in Innershield to have low temp impact requirements. A gas shielded flux-core, E71-T1 is superior to self shielded wires if your welding indoors. |
