I live near Fond du Lac WI and wanted to see where those of you near FdL get your gas?  I know airgas and weld specialty are there but are their other options?  I am looking at buying a tank.  Any help you can give me is appriciated.  Thanks.
Reply:I get my gas and supplies through weld specialties in Fond du Lac.  I have found that they are cheaper than Airgas and will sell you any size bottle you want.  Airgas will only sell up to 80cuft bottles and will lease anything bigger.I haven't found really anything closer for supplies, but I have ran down to Madison to pick up something in a pinch from Badger welding supplies.  You need anything else hitme up as I'm just south of you.  Paul
Reply:Thanks for the info Paul.  While I have welded for a number of years I have not had my own welder at home so I never needed to buy gas.  I will check out weld specialties when I get my tax refund (thats when I am buying my new welder and gas).  I am actually located in Markesan but it is so small most people have never heard of it.  Thanks for the offer to help me out, I will keep that in mind.
Reply:Ah yes Markesan!! Been there a few times!  I have relation that lives over that way.  Are you in the city or country?  What welder are you thinking about getting? Miller, Lincoln, or ?

Reply:Live in City near elementary school.  Going to get the Miller MM211.  For my needs right now, it is all I will need.  I do have to have 240 run to my garage though.
Reply:I have the Miller 211. Very nice machine. Mine is a couple years old and still going strong!
Reply:I bought tanks from Weld Specialty (along with welders, accessories, etc). They said 150cf tanks were the max size of ownership as apposed to Airgas's 125cf. BUT I've NEVER received a tank from Weld Specialty filled more than 1800PSI... (they have all been stamped +* for the overfill too) I questioned them about this since other places fill to around the 2200psi-2400psi range and they claimed that 1800psi-1900psi is FULL.... makes me think the little bit smaller 125cf from Airgas at a little high fee would actually NET me a lot more gas when actually filled correctly. I should do the math and decide if switching to Praxair/Airgas/Badger Welding would be worthwhile....
Reply:I'm up in Green Bay and weld specialty is the way to go for me, air gas and the other gas place(can't think of their name) is way out of line on prices compared to weld specialty. All my 150 tanks have been filled to 2000 psi or a little over.
Reply:Over in Stevens Point, I get all my gas and things from AWG (American Welding and Gas), their main place is in Wausau bu they have a store in my town as well as others. Might be one close to you as well?12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.I only have a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/VPT/244788508917829
Reply:If you go to Airgas, ask them if they have a "Student Discount" program like Airgas in the Milwaukee area.May help, may not, never hurts to ask!
