I was reading a thread where several people advised another to vacuum out the dust from a machine and not to use an air blower. We use our machines in a body shop with a lot of dust.  I periodically blow them out to keep the dust from building up to bad.  Is there something wrong with doing this? Thanks
Reply:Probley wouldn't want that air nozzle open all the way, could break wires I suppose. I would think 20 mabey 30 psi at the most
Reply:I do the same.  I think you need to one, use a lower than airline pressure, I use about 35psi and two, the air has to be moisture free. no issue here, it goes through a reffrigerated dryer first.I suspect thats why new machines are fan on demand so they don't ingest so much dust.
Reply:I usually blow my welding machine out once or twice a year depending on how much I have worked in , my shop . I only use about 30 psi and not to close to any circuit boards .
Reply:Here at the house I use a leaf blower.  Plenty of CFM but low pressure.  The repair tech at my LWS uses the blower side of a shop vac.I was told using shop air at full pressure can drive the dust further into the windings and cause problems.   Dunno, but it sounded good and the leaf blower was handy.RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches
