Hey all I am building a sign with ss lettering that needs a pipe welded to the back of the letters how do I get shielding to the backside and other side of plate this is what the joint needs to look like. | | _ _|_|__
Reply:I am afraid we need more information to give you good advice. Usually, backside shielding is used when full pen sanitary welds are required. Think alimentary industry stuff. It is also used for custom headers in cars to prevent rusting on the inside. For this application, back purging or solar flux is used.Anyway, I don't think backside shielding is required for any ornamental stuff of any kind.. I could be totally wrong though.
Reply:You making this out of stainless steel? If so, it's the inside of the pipe that needs the shielding, not the backside of the plate. If your making this out of regular carbon mild steel, no shielding is required anywhere.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
