Hello all, I'm new here! I am currently in welding school doing stick and will be moving to MIG in about 3-4 weeks and was wondering what gloves y'all recommend? Who makes the best? Lincoln, Miller, ect... Thanks
Reply:I've had good luck with Tillman Brand gloves so far. I do like the Miller Mig gloves though.
Reply:tillman, eliott, black stallion and red ram all make good welding gloves. imvho.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:I just order those Tillman 44s. made in china. about as good as any others from the lws. tig gloves are weaker than mig and stick.  I like the 12 dollar stick gloves at the local discount tool store...they don't last forever but 10-15 a set they are fine.
Reply:I've settled on the Black Stallion Tigster gloves.  They can take a little more heat and are more comfy for me than the plain Tillman kidskin gloves.  They are more expensive but for me they last a lot longer which about evens the price.Outrunning my headlights since '81.
Reply:Just don't get gloves that are made with a fleece lining. if your hands have sweated at all, you can hardly get the gloves off or on again.
Reply:I prefer my LWS branded gloves, made by Black Stallion.  With my ability to destroy gloves in a short time (welding gloves, yard/garden gloves, mechanics gloves, doesn't matter), and these gloves being half the price of Tillmans or others, it's a win win for me.  Might be worth it to see if your LWS has a similar deal.
Reply:Tillmans are OK but the fit sucks, which is pretty common with cheaper gloves. I have a pair of Miller stick gloves and the fit is phenomenal, but they're a little expensive so I only use them for welding, no fab work.
Reply:Anyone use Torchwear? They seem to be best out there from reviews but they aren't cheap. I always buy Tillman myself.
Reply:I like Tillman when I can afford themJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:Well good, I actually just ordered a pair of Tillman's last night!
Reply:How much are Tillman gloves in alaska? All their models are less than $20 on the east coast
Reply:Tillman 750's are nice, but actually the 1000XL's are $42 per dozen and I love them. They break in fast, and last a decent amount of time. And, I don't worry about using them for fab, they're cheap enough not to care."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:These are my favorite gloves: http://www.lowes.com/pd_12040-47120-...ductId=4307503 they are flexible enough that I can squeeze the trigger on a mig gun without my finger getting tired but not so thin that I can't stick weld with them. I've tried the super cheap stick welding gloves before and while they work they always fall apart at the seams. My "collection":Homemade Stick WelderVictor O/A TorchAC 225Ideal Arc 250HF 90 Amp Flux CoreHF Mig 170Solar 2020 Plasma CutterPower i-Mig 140EHarris O/A torchHF Dual Mig 131140STAlpha Tig 200x
Reply:[QUOTE=Sharon Needles;7196471]Tillmans are OK but the fit sucks, i've used the 495 pig skins fom the mid 80s till now.     the funny thing is they cost 15$ then, and 15$ now.    yea, the fit is poor, i gotta try every pair on, the xl's can be smaller than the l's, or visa versa,
Reply:Best brand wise for MIG, I feel are Miller ones. They seem to fit rather well anatomically, at least on my crooked and damaged fingers. There are a whole assortment of classic, regular, heavy duty, extra heavy duty, super duper duty ones. My favorite are actually the arc armor long cuff ones and then with a reflective back pad sometimes . But it all depends on how many amps you are running if you really want or need super duper heavy ones.Do enough welding and you'll wear out enough to finally settle into the brand and style you prefer.RyanMiller Multimatic 200 tig/spool gun/wireless remoteMillermatic 350P, Bernard/XR Python gunsMiller Dynasty 350, Coolmate 3.5 & wireless remoteCK WF1 TIG wire feederMiller Spectrum 375 XtremeOptrel e684Miller Digital EliteMiller Weld-Mask
Reply:I can't keep gloves long enough to have a preference because I keep dinging them (left-hand glove) with my small side-grinder.  I should start calling it a "glove-grinder," which helps avoid blaming my own clumsiness.  My other problem is that the operators of the heavy equipment I frequently work on can NEVER be bothered with clean-up ("There's no time") after greasing the zerks until the grease squirts out of the joints and gets all over everything .  .  . particularly including my brand-new gloves and leathers.
Reply:I like Steiner mig gloves
Reply:I had some stick gloves from the old Knoxville glove company, the green ones were great, they are closed now but gloves may still be available
Reply:These have been the best fitting welding gloves I've tried so far. They actually fit, aren't tight or have excess material in the finger tips like most others I've had. Only used them for a couple weeks so I can't say how well they hold up. I've also tried their green and yellow ones but they didn't hold up more than 2 weeks.Phone won't let me add a picture, they're Caiman 1832-6, about $25 on Amazon.
Reply:I don't know the brand and I think they may be seconds as there is no label. They are soft and flexible, reddish rust color and not too stiff $7.99 at a discount store.
