Im looking to get a slightly larger torch for an aluminum project i have coming up. Im using a Miller Dynasty 200dx. Im looking at the CK brand torches; the TL26 and the TL210. What is the difference between them, I can't seem to figure out what the difference is. Im looking to buy the torch with the flex hose and i believe there are two different sizes, which one is the correct one? Also, I noticed some consumables have to be ck brand and won't interchange with other brands; would i be better of with another brand torch? I would want a good quality torch.Learning the ropes....
Reply:How about get a wp20 and buy or make a water cooler? Air cooled sucks big time

Reply:I have a TL210 at home. I believe the catalog mentioned that the TL210 is part of the master series and the TL26 is part of the standard series. According to the catalog the master series torches are fine tuned to be much smaller and handle more amperage than the standard series. My employer uses the standard series TL26 and honestly, I can't feel or tell the difference. The TL26 and TL210 feel the same size in my hand and use the exact same hardware and cables. The only difference being the series title they are under. Be very careful with the super flex hoses, if you do not have a smooth shop floor the fabric will fray pretty easily, dragging the lead around. I  just replaced my superflex cable with the two piece cable and threw the nylon cable cover over it. Very amazing torch for traveling side jobs.
Reply:I really like my CK torch. I got the #9 superflex, so I can share consumables with the WP20. Rated to 125A, I've had it at 170A ~%60 duty and up to 200A AC for a few inches at a time. I think I'd need to hold it with pliers to cook the thing. Cover the hose for sure.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
Reply:CK torches are a good choice. I would definitetly get a flex hose with a big 26 series torch.IAMAW Local 330Airco 300 AC/DC HeliwelderAirco Dip-Pak 200 with Profax spool gunPowr-Kraft AC225Everlast PowerArc 200stBuffalo Forge No.21 drill pressSpeedglas 9100xxAirco, Oxweld, Purox, Victor torchesLincoln Ranger 8
Reply:If you need the bigger torch then go with the TL26, the trimline is smaller then the standard CK26 and rated at the same amps. A light weight leather cover is a must to protect the hose.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
Reply:I know you are after a CK brand torch, but after burning up a slew of silicon Weldcraft and CK torches I finally tried a WeldTec FX17 rubber torch with a rubber mini handle and could not be happier. Couple that with a superflex power cable and I think you would have the best of air cooled torches. I coupled the FX17 to a standard 20 ft powercable and it works fine. Another big improvement was the addition of WeldTec stubby gas lens kit. I even bought a 26 style adapter to couple a 26 style torch to the 17 style power cable. Torch still got hot. Personally I think the length and heat build up of the power cable plays a role in heat buildup. A gas lens helps pull the heat out of the torch IMO. Oh yeah, again silicon bakes, flakes, cracks, and peels unlike silicon.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:Thanks for all the info. Yeah i have a smaller torch for stainless and other stuff. I also have a ck150fx which I'm thinking of getting rid of and replacing with the bigger torch I'm looking at. I believe the difference was the thread size that connects to machine. Im gunna have to call tomorrow to verify with a tech so i order the correct one.Learning the ropes....
Reply:As far as the cooler goes. I have been fine without one so far i wouldn't mind having one but it seems like it would be a hassle to lug around with everything else when going out to a location.Learning the ropes....
Reply:@ superchargedv8 - great options herein and sounds as if you have it sorted out.  Jody's nice review/summary of the air-cooled and water-cooled TIG torches "styles" available...."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
