Can I TIG this?

Found an extremely shoddy repair done on the bottom of aToyota car that was brought to my attention. Supposedly there was a small crack in the side of this cast piece (basically a cast aluminum upper oil pan). You can see the black steel cover off to the side. You can also see the crummy repair with what looks like some type of rubbery RTV or Epoxy. My question is can I simply drain all the oil out, grind off all that garbage and TIG the crack,  with the engine still in the car? Ive done cast aluminum one other time, didn't seem to be a huge deal. Attached Images

Reply:Doubtful IMO. the residual oil inside the crack and engine will contaminate the weld. It has to be uber-clean
Reply:Can it be done in the car?...Yup.Will it drive you krazy?...Yup.Will it end up a bigger mess that it is already?...Yup.Are you wasting your time and effort?...Yup.Clean the crap out of it and just use some JB weld in that area and it should be OK..There is no pressure in it so make it as clean as you can and use the JB.It will hold....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Me and a friend of mine did a job like that on an aluminum transnission case once. After laying on a cold concrete floor for 1 1/2 hours on a saturday morning, the owner of the car said that it still leaked, and wouldn't pay us. Wheather or not it was true, we don't know.

Reply:I may just yank it out of the car since it doesn't look like the engine would need to be pulled to remove it, just removing the oil pump, A/C motor and the accessory cover from what I can tell.Millermatic 211Diversion 165Hypertherm powermax 45Evolution Chop Saw
