I set up my miller 130xp with .023 wire and 75% 25% gas for welding the small stuff. What seems to happen is that instead of the bacon frying sound I get a really high pitched hiss that stopsoccasionally and restarts, this leaves a break in the bead.Is this OK or do I need a setting to change.millermatic 130XPharbour freight 180 amp mig with added caps.hobart stickmate ac/dcpowerarc 200
Reply:If it hisses and burns back up towards the tip it sounds like the wire speed is too slow, wire tension too loose and the wire is slipping, drive wheel is the wrong size and the wire is slipping or the wire is being obstructed and not feeding

Reply:Is your material clean ?    Paint removed ?     Rust free ?    Is the area clean inside nozzle ? Depending on what wire you use can make a difference too.
Reply:turn up the wire speed or check the drive wheel tension. If the machine has quite a few hours on it the liner could be worn out causing the wire to drag on the way to the tip.
Reply:Originally Posted by SandyYeh, my experience is that you are just right at the ragged edge of welding it to the tip .. Dieing flame, settings too low. If you can remember that setting plus up the wire just the tiniest bit it's perfect for that uber thin sheet metal tho.
