I offered him 1500 for a out of date, no longer made and replaced by a machine that costs half of his asking price brand new. He told me not to insult him with low ball offers.http://cleveland.craigslist.org/tls/2963042201.htmlLast edited by claymans13; 05-02-2012 at 07:59 AM.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250
Reply:Must not have... since the listing price is now $1500Don't feel bad, I had a guy tell me to **** off and go to hell because I offered him $100 on a completely disassembled 25 year old miller Roughneck 2e (ac only) with a blown engine. He was asking $500 and wouldn't go a penny lower than $350.

Reply:I don't think so... People don't seem to understand that when you sell something used, regardless of the condition it's in, it's not worth MSRP anymore. It's no different from cars... buy a new one and drive it home, it's immediately worth 10 grand less.
Reply:I get low-balled all the time on Craigslist. I usually just tell them "No thanks." They either up their offer, or never call/email again. No need for the guy to get all worked up about it.
Reply:From the ad: "Welding rods acid etch etc"Sounds like lots of money----but......What is the 'acid etch' part about? And the 'etc' ? Does the deal include a sturdy welding table too, maybe some auto-dark hoods, gloves and a grinder or two? You can ask him for me; I don't mind if I insult him for his being incomplete with the description.

Reply:An offer is an offer. It's always the seller's right to simply say no. I never understand why people get mad about it. (It's different if you show up, take up the seller's time, and then offer a fraction of the listed price.)Jack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:I didn't really think it was a low ball offer I gave him. If anything its above fair. Used PT225's sell for 2k, used sync 250's sell for less than his asking price. People seem to think now a days that if they have a miller or Lincoln they have gold in their garage anymore.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250

Reply:He will sit on that for some time for what he's asking.I have had several ppl ask if I would be willing to sell my Idealarc 250 over the years. I will say sure...for $800. They usualy say nah, I have seem them for $500 or less. My next comment is; Thats fine, I didnt care to sell it anyway. Reply:Wisconsin sellers with Miller and lincoln machines almost always want big bucks for used . Yes, there are some that list BEYOND MSRP. I called a guy and asked if it was a typo and told me no , I asked how many are you selling for this price ? he hung up. .

Drive it out to bars, friends houses, shopping, camping, hunting,... but never drive it home.Be nice and pay it forward. |
