Ok, so I have this machine that was only used for about a year. And it was barely used. I heard a bang, and now it doesnt work anymore. I had 3 mosfets replaced with the toshiba replacements. Im guessing its something common, but I have since purchased a hypertherm, and this has been taking up space. Im selling it as-is. it worked perfect before it stopped. Cord/gun assy is in great shape. the machine was maybe used for one of two months out of the year. $100 plus shipping. Use it for parts if you wish, or diagnose it yourself and make a buck. I am new on this forum, but feel free to contact me, and I can give you my name on other forums.thanks! Attached Images

Reply:Graphite,We offer repair on the machine if you send it in with a trained repair technician. We can also offer an upgrade to our more reliable IGBT plasma cutter line which we introduced years after we produced those Blue MOSFET machines. Reply:I suspect that if the purchaser pays the $100 and the shipping and then send the unit in, the warantee want be any good due to him not being the original purchaser.  Secondly, by the time he ships the unit to you have it repaired and then have it shipped back, he will have enough invested into it to have purchased a new machine.  The real problem I see is, there hasn't been a single time in the history of this forum that someone sends a unit in for repair has had to do it repeatedly at least 34 times.  If you add up all the monies spend in shipping, repairing, frustration, and still lack of a usable unit, you can go out and buy a hypertherm or thermal dynamics.  again, I have a rock I am sure you will proud to own.  My rock is a leader in the rock industry.  My rock can do...no...out perform any rock in its weight class.  and if anyone tells you it is a piece of dried dog poo, I can assure you...I can promise you, that if it turns out that it is dried dog doo, then there was a mix up in shipping and not my fault.
Reply:My rock is better than your rock. My rock is provided under the Creative Commons license and infringes no rock intellectual property. You may do with it what you like.My rock has an impeccable warranty. I warrant it to be a rock, divisible into smaller rocks, gravel and sand with the use of proper accessories purchased elsewhere.Unlike the Longevity, no parts have been replaced in my rock.I also have dried dog doo available and will combine shipping. The finest Cocker Spaniel, which will be shipped straight from the source. For both rock (my choice) and doo, shipped CONUS flat rate, I'll take a new Hypertherm (a small one will do). I'll sell **** and buy quality for myself.
Reply:Sticks and stones I assume applies here (nothing we haven't heard). Bottom line, if you are covered under warranty, you get what you pay for us warrantying your product. If your warranty expired, you have no proof of purchase or you simply have another brand machine, we will still help repair it cheaper than the leading or other brands. Our repair bills do not come anywhere near the leading brands or of what I have read on the forums. Hopefully, in the next year or two, a repair facility will be in your town so you do not have to worry about shipping even though shipping + cost of repair is still at least 50% less than an out of warranty unit with another brand. As we sell more and more products each year and continue advertising the industry leading warranty, we continue to increase the count of our techs and service centers to meet demands of repairs for all brands not just our own.Simon510-887-7090 x201LONGEVITYPhone: 877-566-4462
Reply:My unit is less than 3 years old. I already FOUGHT with longevity over and over. I'm done with it. I paid around $500 for it. Im a trustworthy person, for $100, you can't lose. Use it for parts. Longevity alone wants $20 for 1 mosfet, so this unit is worth more than $100 right there. Longevity, your customer service is terrible, and I will never buy a product from you again. I already went down this path, and I'm done dealing with longevity. This machine is pretty much sold already. For the price, its worth it, I'm sorry, but it is.

Reply:^^ I love how you call people dishonest. So quick to throw around judgement. I have bought sold over $15k for my personal auto hobbies, not ONE single issue on my behalf. I just had a guy from california send me a $7,000 check in my name, in the mail, for a vehicle for me to ship to him. Never seen the vehicle, never met me person. Why don't I part it out? because I don't care to dink around with it anymore. I have moved on. I bought a VW jetta from a buddy of mine for $100. He didn't want to replace a $40 part. Sometimes you just dont want to deal with it. I've moved on.

I went to the warehouse to take a photo of our warehouse operation. Please let us know if we can be of assistance.

Reply:Ok guys heres what happened. I purchased it brand new, but it turns out it sat on the retailers shelf for a year. So by the time I got it, and the time had passed, the warranty is expired. Even though that doesnt make sense. If you buy a 2005 toyota truck off the lot in 2006, the warranty hasn't been running. Longevity is just a terrible company. Simple. For people to get frustrated with this is, is just dumb. maybe someone wants it for spare parts. Maybe someone needs the cable/gun assembly. Who knows. If someone wants it, but it. If not, then don't its simple. I should have replaced all the mosfets, because thats what went. They were charred. i just replaced the ones I could SEE were damaged.
Reply:YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!Simon, this is a new low for your company.  Say this isn't so.

Reply:Really?  I bought a Lincoln from a retailer and the warranty started the day I bought it.  I also have purchased Miller equipment and the same applies with them.  The warranty started with the sale at the retail level.  I guess Longevity isn't as good as Lincoln and Miller...HA.  Just Kidding, LOL  We all know they aren't.Seriously, no cheap shots below.  Graphite9,  was the retailer an authorized retailer?  When did you find this out?  i understand frustration, but the retailer is dishonest, longevity is dishonest(unethical at best), or you are being dishonest.I have purchased a used welder with no expectations of having a warranty.  So what is the real story??Longevity, may be innocent...(Have you ever felt a chill run your spine? LOL)

Reply:You guys expect us to service out of warranty products for free? I have never come across a manufacturer that does that. If you buy a product on eBay for a few hundred from an unauthorized seller  that is out of warranty, you are taking a risk! This risk unfortunately is not covered by us.We are still offering help for the repair, but if there is no proof of purchase, no warranty information, we cannot repair the unit free of charge for anyone. In 10 years, are we going to be held to that standard as well? What about units that are stolen from our customers trucks, shops, from our dealer locations... No proof of purchase and it goes down, do we fix it???? NO. We are a business and as a business we have a set amount of policies, which actually are also used by the major brands. If you are out of warranty, you DO NOT get free repair, whether a TV, CAR, GRILL, etc..However, we can offer to repair it and make it work or upgrade the customer to something they are satisfied with in addition to a new warranty. As you see we have lots of units on hand as well as parts.SimonLONGEVITYPhone: 877-566-4462
Reply:Originally Posted by LanseThats because you didn't buy it from Longevity. You bought it from some company on Ebay if I remember right!! Longevity sold it, and the warranty started ticking when it rolled out of their warehouse. It was under warranty when it was sitting in the ebay store (so to speak), and the warranty ran out before they sold it. I dont think Longevity did anything wrong here, they sold something, and when they didn't get bad news about it for the next year, they said "its out of warranty, and not our problem anymore".I think this is between you and the ebay dealer. THEY aren't longevity, they are a CUSTOMER of longevity. But it does suck, none the less. I think the ebay store is at fault here, did they represent it as having a warranty FROM THEM? If not, its only a white lie. Sure it has a one year warranty, but its THEIR warranty unless it might be transferable. I think they're the bad company here.YOU are a customer of Longevity (so to speak)that Ebay store is a customer of longevity. If YOU bought a new plasma cutter and kept it until the warranty ran out and then sold it, why would the new buyer expect it to have a warranty? Its the same thing, unless you bought it from Longevity itself, which I dont believe you did.Okay, Im assuming you're the person who bought a longevity plasma cutter from a non-longevity store on ebay and the warranty ran out before you got it. If not, sorry about the mistaken identy, if so, Im basing everything above off your last thread. Good luck

Reply:Originally Posted by axeltOh yes same story for me, I thought I got a good deal from some one at ebay. It arrived, tested, it worked and then I store it. When was time for the project it was original intended it only worked one last time. Contacted the longevity guy (mark) just to find that without a registry of their product they can´t do anything but offering me a discount for other or their products after I send em the offending unit. Call me spoiled but I am used to products that if it works fine the first time it will keep doing that  for a reasonable period of time.  I do not like companies like longevity that try to compensate quality with "customer service".
Reply:So what is the expected amount of time a Longevity plasma cutter will work?  It seems that my Thermal Dynamics Plasma that I have been using for 6 years that I bought used still works every time I pick it up!!  Is there a recall on these paper weights??  Seems to me that since everybody has the same problems that the company either LONGEVITY or where ever you guys buy this china stuff would do something above and beyond the warranty.  Just my opion!!Millermatic 251Miller Bobcat 225Lincoln 135Victor Oxy/FuelOlder Thermal Dynamics 50 amp (paid $700 with 10 sets of consumables)
