I am looking to get a larger compressor, the one i have now is a "4cfm" at 90 which is more like 2.5cfm. I would love to get a 60 gal 240 volt job but I am in the military and move quite often so it is dificult to get multiple 240 outlets right now i use the dryer receptacle for my plasma. Would one of the 8 gal harbor freight or rigid compressors do what I need I know the tank size is small and it would have to be kept outside while running for obvious reasons. Would it be able to run a small blast cabinet even though it is a smaller tank capacity?
Reply:What is the air requirement on your plasma? Are the available 120V outlets 15 Amp or 20 Amp? I'd consider something like this 30 gal. unit if it put out enough air and I had access to 20A 120V. This one can be wired 120 or 240.http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...6622_200396622"USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:It needs 4.5cfm@60psi but I would like to run a small blast cabinet in the future
Reply:I have one of the gas powered "wheelbarrow" compressors and it keeps up just fine with my blast cabinet. Most are designed for multiple roofing guns. Even though the tanks are small, the compressor itself usually is rated for a high volume of gas to make up for the lack of storage. The one issue with my gas compressor is moisture. It tends to be a very "wet" compressor since there isn't much of a chance for moisture to drop out in a tank. This will be a major issue with a sand blaster and a killer on a plasma. You will need to invest in a top end filter system if you want to go this route most likely..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:My biggest beef with the one I had was that if I didn't use it all the time, you have the stale gas issues. ALWAYS use Stabil."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
